Motorists warned as visibility may drop below 1,000m

Emirati motorists hitting the roads early on Monday will face visibility issues as thick fog blankets several parts of the country. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued red and amber alerts for fog formation. This can cause horizontal visibility to drop to 1,000 meters, sometimes farther.

Several districts in Abu Dhabi have activated speed reduction systems and issued warnings to residents through social media posts, app alerts and mobile notifications. On some roads the speed limit has been changed to 80 km/h. Drivers are urged to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and obey traffic rules.

The surface pressure system is expected to be weak and the upper air pocket of the low pressure system to be weak. This will result in clear to partly cloudy skies with clouds in the east by afternoon. There is a chance of some convective clouds forming, with the possibility of light rain.

Temperatures are expected to rise, while winds will remain light to moderate, sometimes refreshing during the day. Light sea conditions are expected in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of ​​Oman.
