UAE: When children return to face-to-face classrooms, parents are confident in using school buses-News

Parents expressed that they are confident that their children will use this service in the upcoming semester.

The Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the UAE has begun to have a positive impact on the number of school bus passengers in the new semester.

This is also after the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention announced on Monday that it approved the emergency registration of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for children.

It has also undergone extensive clinical trials and evaluations, and is based on emergency use authorization and local evaluations to comply with approved regulations.

STS Managing Director Steve Burnell said: “The safety and well-being of students, employees, and everyone we deal with will always be our top priority.

“Our positive attitude towards employee health and everyone in contact with us, coupled with the vaccine program, means that 100% of qualified employees are vaccinated in time before the start of the new semester,” he said.

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, STS worked closely with the education community and regulatory agencies by introducing the Back-to-the-Bus security protocol.

This ensures that the highest safety and protection standards are in place to assure parents that school buses are the safest way to get to and from school every day. Although the number of students returning to school after the lockdown is small, the number of students using school buses is increasing every month.

Combined with the successful vaccination campaign of STS and the school, these efforts have given parents full of confidence that they are now choosing school buses for their children to go to school. Although the seat capacity of each bus is currently limited to 50%, the number of students using school transportation is increasing and is three times that of last year.

“The steady increase in school bus traffic is an amazing achievement for all of us. In the long run, students returning to school buses will have a positive impact on the environment and will reduce traffic congestion around the school district”, Director General Manager Thomas Edelmann believes that roads are safe in the UAE.

Another factor that has contributed to the steady increase in the number of students choosing the fleet is that all buses are equipped with the most advanced technology designed to ensure their safety.

This has also been used for student contact tracing.

Chidambaram Gunaseelan, STS’s IT director, stated that its “advanced fatigue detection system is not affected by personal protective equipment such as face shields and face shields. In the past 12 months, STS has been investing in these systems during Covid.”

Parents are confident about using the school bus in the new semester

At the same time, before the new school year or new semester, parents have shown new confidence in using school buses.

Dubai resident Sindya Sundar, the mother of a 5-year-old child, said: “My son has been on the bus for the entire three semesters. We did not encounter any challenges. Each child sits in a separate seat, maintains social distance and They all wear masks on the bus, and there is no unnecessary communication between the children because someone has been watching them.”

“This is a safe experience for us, and this year I also plan to let him in the car. In addition, the Covid-19 vaccine is now approved for children over three years old, which is a win-win situation for everyone.”

Liara Slavalova, a Russian expat who has a four-year-old son, said: “My son Maxim will take the school bus from the beginning of the new school year because I plan to return to work after the second maternity leave. I think the whole country and school have taken enough There are many measures to ensure everyone here is safe. In addition, the fact that most children can and will be vaccinated gradually is very gratifying.”

For working parents or children who live in neighboring emirates but study in Dubai, school transportation is still the preferred method of communication while complying with safety protocols.

Nausheen S., a resident of Sharjah, said: “School buses are easy to commute. As a family, we live in Sharjah, considering that our workplace is in the emirate. However, my daughter studies in a school in Dubai. It is practically impossible to give up And to pick her up every day, of course I prefer her to take the school bus.”

“The school has ensured that the buses are well disinfected and comply with all government regulations to ensure safety. I look forward to seeing my daughter return to normal life starting in September.”
