An Abu Dhabi woman lost the 3.3 million dirham lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend. She said that her ex-boyfriend borrowed the money from her as a loan to invest in real estate business. Due to lack of evidence, her case was dismissed.
According to official court documents, the Arab woman became friends with the young man after having a long conversation face to face and on social media.
The woman said that the man told her that he held important positions in the workplace and was also engaged in major projects such as car auctions.
She said the man later asked her to lend her money so that he could invest it into a profitable real estate business.
The woman said that she first sent him AED 82,000 through the currency exchange service, and then gave him AED 1.69 million in cash.
She said she gave the man another Dh370,000 in cash. The woman then claimed that when she left the bank card with the man when she was abroad, the man took 1.2 million dirhams from her account.
In court, the defendant denied receiving money from the woman. He emphasized that the plaintiff had just made a false accusation against him because he cancelled their marriage arrangement.
The man said he planned to marry the woman, but then told her that he had changed his mind. He wants their relationship to end so that he can marry another woman. He also said that the plaintiff was older than him.
In addition, the man said that it was the woman who owed him money, and she sent the cash to him through a currency exchange service. He emphasized that when she traveled abroad, he did not withdraw any money from her bank account.
The man asked the court to dismiss the woman’s case because the case was baseless and insufficient evidence.

After hearing the opinions of both parties, the Abu Dhabi Family and Civil and Administrative Claims Court rejected the case on the grounds that the woman did not provide sufficient evidence to prove that she gave the cash to the man as a loan.
The judge also stated in the ruling that the woman asked the court to appoint an expert to investigate the matter, but she did not produce any documents or evidence to support her claim that she did lend the cash to the man, but the man did not repay it.
