Airfares from the UAE to India, Pakistan, the GCC and other Middle Eastern countries could rise by as much as 150% between now and Eid, as a large number of residents travel during Eid.

Therefore, travel agencies in the United Arab Emirates suggest that the sooner you book, the better, especially for big families. You can earn a lot of money by booking in advance.

Avinash Adnani, managing director of Pluto Travels, said the upward trend in airfares on the Indian subcontinent and other Gulf and Middle East routes remains unchanged because they are Muslim countries.

“Getting seats a week before Eid is a challenge for travelers from the UAE. On Indian subcontinent routes, Kerala, Lucknow, Delhi, Dhaka, Colombo, Karachi, Lahore and Mumbai saw increases biggest,” he said.

Current fares to Mumbai, Delhi, Karachi, Islamabad

  • Dh400-500 one way
  • Dh1,000-1,200 back

Adnani said that during Eid al-Fitr, airfares in almost all Muslim countries increase as a large number of UAE residents travel to their home country to celebrate the festival with their families.

Ramadan is likely to begin on Thursday, March 23, according to astronomical calculations revealed by Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society. Since Ramadan will last 29 days, the first day of Eid al-Fitr is likely to take place on Friday 21 April.

The official Eid al-Fitr holidays in the UAE are from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 (Hijri Islamic calendar month). If the astronomical calculations are correct, the break will be from Thursday 20 April to Sunday 23 April.

short vacation

Some residents also choose to travel to popular destinations that are 7-8 hours away by plane for holidays and short breaks during the Eid holiday.

TP Sudheesh, general manager of Deira Tours and Travels, said that since the UAE is home to around 180 different nationalities, festivals like Eid al-Fitr are busy seasons for many places, including short breaks for holiday destinations.

“Apart from the large outbound traffic to the Indian subcontinent and Middle Eastern cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Karachi and Cairo, even destinations such as Singapore, Bangkok and Malaysia have attracted a large number of UAE residents holidaying during Eid,” he said.

Avinash Adnani said some UAE residents also go on holiday during Eid.

“Flight prices to London have also risen somewhat because the city is a popular destination where UAE residents can go for a few days, unlike the US which is too far away for a short break,” he said.
