Etihad Rail Passenger Stations 2026: UAE Unveils Full 11-Station Network Connecting All 7 Emirates
The United Arab Emirates is on track to revolutionize domestic travel with the official unveiling of the complete Etihad Rail passenger network, featuring seven newly announced stations for a total of 11. With the flagship passenger service set to launch in 2026, this announcement marks the finalization of the nation’s first integrated, cross-emirate railway system.
On January 8, 2026, Etihad Rail confirmed the expansion, adding strategic stations to connect communities previously reliant on road travel. The new stations—Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya, and Al Dhaid (in Sharjah)—join the four major hubs previously announced: Mohammed bin Zayed City (Abu Dhabi), Jumeirah Golf Estates (Dubai), University City (Sharjah), and Al Hilal (Fujairah).
This carefully planned network positions stations in key residential and economic zones across primarily Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, following extensive coordination with local governments. The selection ensures the rail system serves as a true national mobility backbone, offering a fast, sustainable alternative to intercity driving.
Once operational, the Etihad Rail passenger service will seamlessly connect 11 cities and regions across all seven emirates. The phased station openings throughout 2026 will progressively enhance national connectivity, reduce road congestion, and support the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, integrated transport ecosystem. Project leaders emphasize that the network is designed to boost economic growth, improve quality of life, and increase accessibility for residents, commuters, and tourists.
The passenger service builds on the operational success of the Etihad Rail freight network, launched in 2023, which already links critical industrial and logistics hubs. The transition to passenger services culminates years of dedicated planning and construction. Significant progress is already evident, with 10 of the planned 13 passenger trains already delivered to the UAE and having passed rigorous safety and performance tests.
These modern trains are designed for comfort and efficiency, each capable of carrying approximately 400 passengers. Amenities will include ergonomic seating, onboard Wi-Fi, and power outlets at every seat, setting a new standard for public transport in the region.
Trains will run on fixed, reliable schedules, providing a predictable and efficient commuting option. The network is designed for future integration with local transit, such as feeder buses and taxi services, to solve the “last-mile” challenge and ensure seamless door-to-door journeys.
Transport analysts project the Etihad Rail passenger network could serve up to 10 million passengers annually, with capacity to scale as demand grows. Environmental benefits are a key driver, as the rail system aligns with UAE sustainability goals by significantly reducing carbon emissions and road traffic.

Beyond immediate transport benefits, Etihad Rail is poised to be a catalyst for economic and social integration. By linking communities, it is expected to spur development along its corridor, boost domestic tourism, and strengthen the national economy. Looking ahead, officials have indicated potential for future expansion, including cross-border connections to other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, paving the way for a new era of regional connectivity.
