The dogs ran side by side on two treadmills and their owners took them to the UAE’s first gym of its kind to help improve their fitness.

As the number of dog owners in the UAE increases and more people struggle to keep their pets entertained on hot summer days, Mansour Hamadi came up with the idea of opening an indoor dog house.

Dog owners from across the UAE take their pets to Hamadi Gym in Abu Dhabi, where their animals run on treadmills specially designed for dogs.

Mansour, owner of Posh Pets Boutique & Spa, said: “The idea is to provide a healthy gym for all kinds of dogs…my struggle is in the summer – finding a good environment to exercise the dogs.”

Following the designated safety measures, the dogs wore a harness attached to a spring system and ran on a mechanical treadmill at their own pace for 15 minutes.

With each visit, the dog’s exercise time was gradually increased to ensure that its muscles could properly adapt to using the machine for longer periods of time.

“My friend told me this place is very nice, my dog can move around there without the sun or distractions, it’s just a place for dogs,” says Posh Pets customer Hani Jaafar .

Hamadi provides a safe and positive space that keeps dogs and their owners happy as they look forward to returning from each session.

Posh Pets customer Mohammed Hamid Bilbeisi said: “(The dog) was so excited, as soon as he got out of the car, he recognised the place and started walking towards it, he felt comfortable here.”
