Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi made history by landing on the International Space Station (ISS). As the region gets excited about the longest space mission in the Arab world, visitors to the Sikka Art Fair will have the perfect opportunity to experience what it’s like to be in space.

The ar House 28 exhibit uses modern technologies such as virtual reality to give space enthusiasts a glimpse into Hazzaa AlMansouri’s time in space. Visitors must wear VR glasses and hold touch controllers to start watching the documentary. Narrated entirely by himself in Arabic, the documentary follows AlMansouri’s life inside the International Space Station, with supporting videos.

In a darkened room set against a backdrop of space photos, visitors can see how Al Mansouri spent his time on the International Space Station, what experiments he performed, what food he ate and how he interacted with fellow astronauts. staff interaction. VR glasses allow them to see everything around the International Space Station and observe satellites in minute detail.

In one of the videos, a crew member can be seen trying to eat a cookie, but it keeps slipping from her hand due to zero gravity. Visitors, on the other hand, can get a glimpse of how astronauts post photos of their loved ones and store their belongings aboard the ISS.

“It was so exciting,” said Khloud, who watched the Arabic-language documentary for a few minutes while wearing VR goggles. “With these glasses, you can see the whole of the ISS. It’s almost like you’re traveling with him. I’ve been following his journeys closely, but this exhibit has allowed me to learn more about what he did there information about the matter.”

In September 2019, AlMansouri became the first Emirati astronaut in space and the first Arab aboard the International Space Station when he blasted off on a Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft. He spent 8 days on the ISS before returning on October 3, 2019, landing in Kazakhstan aboard Soyuz MS-12. While there, Al Mansouri conducted 15 experiments and filmed the first-ever trip to the International Space Station in Arabic. Parts of this journey can be seen in Sikka’s exhibition.

“People enjoy looking at the exhibit and usually stay in the room for a few minutes,” said a volunteer. “Some people keep coming back because being able to see inside the ISS is such a unique experience. It’s especially popular with kids, many of whom dream of being an astronaut. Now traveling to the ISS with Sultan AlNeyadi mission, the show became even more popular.”
