UAE’s next generation of entrepreneurs showcase ideas at INJAZ UAE’s annual National Company Plan Competition

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: INJAZ UAE, a member of INJAZ Al-Arab and Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, the world’s largest non-profit business education organization, hosted the 14th edition of the highly successful “National Company Plan Competition” at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City.

More than 400 students from schools and universities across the UAE took part in the competition, which encouraged students to use their entrepreneurial spirit to create their own start-ups, with more than 30 teams qualifying for a range of prestigious awards, including Company of the Year “. To date, INJAZ UAE has reached out and influenced over 100,000 students since its inception.

Following the judging process, the ceremony kicked off with the “CEO of the Year” award, which recognized Kawkab Al Ashrafi, CEO of I-Influence from High School Circuit and Reem Humaid, CEO of Tatee from College Circuit.

Abu Dhabi University’s AK&D Studios also received the coveted ‘Company of the Year’ university award that night. AK&D Studios provides tailor-made services for women entrepreneurs by recruiting freelance creative talent in the UAE. The high school edition went to I-Influence from Dubai National School Al Barsha. I-Influence is a digital platform that aims to improve the lives of micro-influencers by providing them with a range of services that guide them through various ventures.

Other awards on the day included ‘Product of the Year’, presented by the American University of Sharjah to WeShare’s University Track. WeShare is an exclusive crowdfunding platform that connects individual investors in college students, young entrepreneurs and other savers with potential SME investment projects. For the high school track, the award went to Khebrah of Dubai National School Al Twar. Khebrah is a social media platform designed for teens aged 15-21 to facilitate job hunting and professional networking.

The MOM at Dubai National School Al Twar won the High School Award for Best Social Impact. MOM is an online platform that provides support services for mothers before, during and after pregnancy. The university award went to Tatee of the Higher Institute of Technology, a company dedicated to supporting the Arabic language, scribes and calligraphy.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, UAE, applaud the competition as it helps young people unleash their potential. His Excellency noted that the UAE has been proactive in empowering young entrepreneurs, providing them with the best possible environment to hone their skills and contribute to building a better future.

“At the Ministry of Education, we believe that providing young people with the skills and tools they need to succeed is critical to helping them contribute effectively to the UAE’s competitiveness and development process in the years to come. I would like to congratulate all the students who participated in this year’s competition. We Having witnessed amazing and innovative projects, I look forward to seeing our young people continue their path in a variety of entrepreneurial disciplines,” Your Excellency said.

The Vice-Chairman, in collaboration with the Dubai Digital Economy Chamber represented by His Excellency Ahmed Ahmed bin Biat, spoke at the event, highlighting what Dubai offers innovators, especially youth, in digital Great opportunity to grow in the environment.

He said: “Dubai fosters a welcoming environment for innovators, entrepreneurs and disruptors. Dubai Digital Economy Chamber supports aspirants who wish to come up with ideas, create change, or simply start a company that leverages technology to its full potential .Today’s competition and awards reflect the transformative power of the digital economy, which opens doors to endless possibilities, empowers individuals and drives economic growth like never before.”

The competition is co-hosted by major cooperative strategic partners such as Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Accenture, Honeywell, US Mission to the UAE, Citi Foundation, ExxonMobil, UPS and Caterpillar Foundation, who also formed the recipients Dear jury. For the university competition, the judges included Kamal Benkabbou, Head of Markets, Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan, Citi, and Kimberly James, Manager, Competitiveness and Research, Digital Economy, Dubai Digital Economy Chamber. Abbas Panju, Managing Director, UPS Middle East; Leigh-Ann Judd, Marketing Director, Honeywell; and Begoña de Albornoz, Corporate Citizenship and Environment Leader, Accenture Middle East; judging the high school track.

The CEO of the Year award was judged by Taher Hamid, President, ExxonMobil Iraq and UAE, at the High School Circuit, and Yasser AbdulMalak, Chairman and CEO, Nestlé MENA, at the University Circuit.

The National Company Program will transform classrooms into start-ups over 25 weeks, providing students with advanced mentorship from key experts in the business world. By learning the intricacies of running a business, financial literacy and team building, students improve their business skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. The program aims to enrich the learning experience of participating students, providing a venue for students to start their own entrepreneurial companies by learning practical steps to bring their ideas to life. Winners of the program will go on to participate in INJAZ Al-Arab’s Youth Entrepreneurship Competition.
