Uber Travel Now Available in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt

Earlier this week, Gulf media reported that Uber Travel had launched in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Uber Travel is now available in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, an Uber spokesperson told Al-Monitor. This program is not available in any other Middle Eastern countries.

Uber Travel is also available in South Africa, but not currently in any other African country, according to the spokesperson.

What does it mean: Uber Travel is a service that allows users to view their travel plans, such as flight information, within the Uber mobile application. According to Uber’s website, it works by linking to a user’s Gmail account.

Why it matters: Uber’s regular ride-hailing service is available throughout the Middle East. As of January 2023, Uber is available in the following countries:

  • Bahrain
  • Egypt
  • Israel
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • turkey
  • united arab emirates

Uber is not available everywhere in these countries. In Jordan, for example, Uber operates only in the capital, Amman.

Uber Travel’s launch in Saudi Arabia follows Saudi Public Investment Fund A $1.5 billion investment in Uber was announced in August.
