UK audio drama development fund Loop launches – deadline

exclusive: Great opportunities are approaching for drama writers in the North of England.

free transfer entertainment and screen yorkshire Co-founded Loop, an initiative billed as the UK’s first audio theater fund, offering paid development for writing talent who live, work or come from the North.

The fund is open to published film, television, game, radio or literary authors who have not yet been exposed to opportunities in the field of immersive audio theatre.

The Loop app went live this morning on the UK’s Screen Yorkshire website. Ten different writers will be selected to develop their projects in collaboration with a panel of UK audio drama specialists, including commissioners, directors, producers and established writers. The list will be announced in May.

Loop’s goal is to create a film that encompasses genres such as teen, sci-fi, thriller, fantasy and comedy.

British independent company Free Turn has been adding staff in recent months, seeing immersive audio production as its main strategic focus, alongside TV shows and films such as 2022’s Gigi and NateIn terms of new talent, it is producing an eight-episode “Sonic” drama by Grammy-nominated artist Justin Lockey, conceived as a British sci-fi series, and written by writer/performer Audio file format produced by Kirk Flash, his work podcast this is gay won him the Rising Star Award at the 2022 British Podcast Awards.

“We have a clear initiative agenda to close this knowledge gap, develop underrepresented voices in the north of England and support the UK’s potential to continue to lead the world in this new form of entertainment. By funding this initiative and using We put our time and our team behind it, and we hope to give back to the media we love so much.”
