UK-UAE signs agreement to combat illegal financing-News

The agreement aims to ensure that the UAE and the United Kingdom can work more closely together to meet common global challenges.

On Friday, British Home Secretary Pritty Patel and UAE Secretary of State Ahmed Ali Sayeg signed a new agreement to increase efforts to combat the financing of terrorism, serious and organized crime groups .

Officially known as the first UK-UAE Partnership to Solve Illegal Capital Flows, it is a new, ambitious and strengthened future partner announced by the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. Part of the relationship is Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The agreement aims to ensure that the UAE and the United Kingdom can work together more closely to meet the common global challenges we face and promote the prosperity and safety of our citizens.

Patel said: “I will always take the strongest action to protect the safety of the British people. This new agreement strengthens our two countries’ efforts to hunt down terrorists and serious organized crime groups who are trying to harm us. This partnership will help ensure public safety, protect our prosperity, and bring dangerous criminals to justice.”

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh said: “The UAE and the United Kingdom stand together in the global fight against illegal finance. We are committed to combating various forms of terrorist financing and serious organized crime in order to protect the UAE and maintain the integrity of the international financial system. sex.”

He added: “This partnership marks an important milestone in the close cooperation between the UAE and the United Kingdom. Through the strong collaborative structure of the partnership, the UAE is determined to advance our common priorities and strengthen our efforts to maintain the security, prosperity and security of both countries. The effort made.”

Officials stated that this partnership provides a powerful platform for building stronger and longer-lasting strategic partnerships, advancing the priorities identified in the UK’s comprehensive review and the UAE’s national anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing strategy. It will strengthen law enforcement by enhancing intelligence sharing and joint operations against serious and organized crime networks between the United Kingdom and the UAE. By sharing insights and expertise, the two countries will also improve their international understanding of terrorist financing.

Officials added that the partnership will raise professional standards for anti-money laundering, with special attention to high-risk industries such as precious metals and gem dealers, real estate, and emerging technologies such as cryptocurrency.
