Russian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had shot down 23 of the more than 30 Iranian Shahd drones launched by Russia in the past two days, calling them “metal monsters.” Ukrainian forces also shot down a Kh-59 cruise missile, two Ka-52 attack helicopters and another Su-25 fighter jet during the same period.
In his routine evening address to the nation, Zelensky said Russia has launched 4,500 missile strikes and more than 8,000 airstrikes against Ukraine since its invasion began in late February. Russia and Iran deny transferring Shahed weapons.

Ukraine’s power operator Ukrenergo is still struggling to generate electricity. Ukrenergo wrote on its Telegram channel that the recent attack in central Ukraine will require consumers to reduce electricity consumption.
Russian troops attacked Mykolaiv and several settlements in the Kharkiv region near the Ukrainian-Russian border overnight, local authorities said in a telegram. According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian army continued its counteroffensive in several areas. The Institute for War, citing Russian sources, said the counteroffensive was taking place in the northeastern Kharkiv Oblast and along the Kliminna-Lusychansk line.

It also noted limited ground attacks by Ukrainian troops in the Kherson region, and Russian troops continued defensive preparations along the eastern bank of the Dnieper. According to the Ukrainian Army General Staff, Russian troops continued offensive operations against Bakhmut and Avdivka in the Donetsk region.
