Ukrainian President Zelensky calls on Russians to ‘protest’ mobilization World News

[ad_1]

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday called on Russians to boycott part of the mobilization announced by President Vladimir Putin, sparking protests and fresh exodus.

“During these six months of war, 55,000 Russian soldiers lost their lives…” Zelensky said in his daily speech.

“Want more? No? Then protest. Fight back. Run away. Or surrender” to Ukrainian troops.

“You have been complicit in all these crimes, murders and torture of the Ukrainians. Because of your silence. Because of your silence,” Zelensky added.

“It’s time for you to make a choice: for men in Russia, it’s a life-or-death choice, be crippled or stay fit.

“For women in Russia, the choice is to lose husbands, sons, grandchildren forever, or still try to protect them from death, war, one (Putin),” Zelensky continued.

More than 1,300 people were arrested at demonstrations across Russia on Wednesday after the partial mobilization was announced.

There have also been reports of mass exodus after the announcement. Flights from Russia to neighboring countries that allow visa-free entry for Russians are almost fully booked, and prices have skyrocketed.

On Thursday, the Kremlin dismissed reports of a rush to evacuate Russians qualified to mobilize, citing “false” reports.
