United Airlines fires nearly 600 employees for refusing to comply with vaccine regulations world news

[ad_1]

As some employers and the federal government encourage individuals to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to help reduce the spread of the virus, some United Airlines The employees disagree and oppose vaccination. As a result, this puts their livelihoods at risk. Since 99% of United Airlines employees provided proof of vaccination, they were forced to make difficult decisions for the remaining less than 1% of unvaccinated employees.

according to Hill, United Airlines announced today that they will begin to lay off approximately 600 employees who have failed to comply with the COVID-19 vaccine regulations. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart wrote in a memo to employees: “This is a very difficult decision, but ensuring the safety of our team has always been our top priority.” Although the decision is final, employees will not retreat without a fight.

United Airlines employees who have been vaccinated do not include employees seeking religious or medical exemptions. Six people filed a lawsuit against the airline last week. The reason for the lawsuit is that United Airlines’ policy is to exempt employees from taking unpaid leave. However, Manchester United does not seem to be too worried. According to reports, the company has received many applicants after announcing its vaccine needs. United Airlines said that potential applicants want to work in a safe environment.

United is the only American airline to fire employees who did not comply with its vaccine requirements. Delta Air Lines decided not to lay off employees, but charged a $200 monthly surcharge for unvaccinated employees, while American Airlines and Southwest Airlines only encouraged employees to be vaccinated. Before the formal dismissal, United employees will have the last chance to comply with the regulations during the resignation process.
