Looking to buy or sell hunting weapons such as rifles, swords or airsoft guns? The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) is the only event in the country that allows visitors to purchase hunting and shooting weapons.

ADIHEX’s high-level organizing committee issued a guide to buying and selling weapons during the 20th edition of the exhibition in August. Every year, manufacturers, experts and designers compete to provide hunters and shooters with the best products, including rare innovations to emerge in the hunting and shooting world. The last ADIHEX set a new high of more than 3,400 weapons sold on site.

The higher-level organizing committee has issued guidelines on the official website. Therefore, local and international companies and institutions wishing to participate in the “Hunting and Shooting Equipment” industry must obtain a participation permit from the Office of Arms and Hazardous Materials and the UAE Ministry of Interior in order to complete the booking. The license must include a copy of the company license issued by the issuing authority in the UAE or abroad.

The Ministry and Abu Dhabi Police General have developed an online procedure for obtaining a license for hunting weapons, expediting the process and coordinating with licensing authorities in the GCC and other countries.

According to the guidelines, each UAE citizen over the age of 21 is entitled to a maximum of 3 weapons. People from the GCC and other countries can purchase hunting weapons provided they have a no-objection certificate or letter from the competent licensing body in their country mentioning the number and type of weapons allowed and the person’s identity details.

Registration and application for purchasing licenses and weapons permits can be done by visiting the online portal: https://moi.gov.ae/en/eservices/eservice.152.aspx. There are further procedures to be followed by ADIHEX’s licensing authority and the ministry before the arms can be sold.

Weapons permitted to be purchased at the show include shotguns, pistols up to 9mm, traditional swords and daggers, hunting knives, wooden and plastic archery devices, and license-exempt airsoft guns up to 8 joules. Those under the legal age may purchase weapons, subject to the consent of a parent or guardian.

The largest hunting, equestrian and heritage conservation show in the region is an eagerly awaited event for enthusiasts and manufacturers alike. The last show received more than 100,000 visitors. The 20th edition of the show will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (Adnec) from August 23rd to 29th. It is sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, the International Houbara Conservation Foundation (IFHC) and Adnec.
