The United Arab Emirates has stopped issuing visas to Nigerians. This is because all submitted applications will be rejected and fees will not be refunded.
Although the UAE government has yet to issue an official statement, the Destination Management Company (DMC), which is authorized to issue e-visas to the UAE, announced in a statement that Dubai Immigration has now stopped granting visas to Nigerians.
“All previously submitted applications are currently on hold. Please note that this is beyond our control. We will update once visas start to be approved,” the statement read.

However, information obtained from Air Peace’s customer representative shows that the airline is still flying to Dubai with those who already hold valid visas.
The representative added that any changes to Nigerian flights will be communicated in a timely manner, adding that no issues have been raised at this time.
Before a blanket ban on visas to Nigerians, the UAE government introduced a new visa regime as it stopped issuing tourist visas to Nigerians under the age of 3. 40 yearsexcept for family visa applications.
In September, some Nigerians shared a video in a room at Dubai airport that went viral and caught the attention of the foreign ministry. In the video, some 20 affected Nigerians lamented that they were being abused despite holding valid travel documents.
In this regard, NIDCOM (Nigerian Diaspora Council) CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa revealed on Twitter that most of the affected Nigerians were deliberately trying to circumvent UAE regulations for issuing visas to Nigerians.
However, the Nigerian Mission in Dubai clarified that most of the Nigerians allegedly stranded were granted family visas and only arrived in Dubai alone without any family members.
According to recent reports, the UAE government has had to decide to ban visas to Nigerians for committing cult conflicts in the country, as some Nigerians living in Dubai have been caught for increasing cult-related violence.
Earlier this year, a viral video showed a group of Nigerian men vandalising property and attacking people with machetes. According to UAE law, anyone who does so is in breach of Article 52 of UAE Federal Law No. 34 of 2021.
Authorities issued warning statements to tourists and migrants at various times to stop disorderly conduct and comply with the law.
Emirati hospitality has proven to be taken for granted as violence involving Nigerians has increased in certain parts of the country, necessitating recent action by the UAE government.
