The UAE delegation, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, also included representatives from the Executive Office for Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism, the UAE Central Bank, the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit, the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Justice, Law Enforcement Agencies, and Control and Executive Office for Nonproliferation.
Spirit of international partnership and collaboration underpins UAE’s efforts to safeguard integrity of global financial system
Meetings of the expert group in recent months have built on established bilateral discussions with partners including Australia, Canada, Singapore, Japan, South Africa, Italy, France, India, Spain and the European Union.
A technical dialogue took place on topics of global concern, in addition to discussing AML/CFT progress in the UAE and steps taken in recent months to improve its systems and close any existing gaps.
These include exchanging best practices on regulation of financial institutions and designated non-financial corporations and professions, beneficial ownership transparency, and the use of financial intelligence.
Mr. Rashed Al Teneiji, Deputy Director, Department of Economic and Trade Affairs, MoFAIC, said: “The spirit of international partnership and cooperation underpins the UAE’s efforts to safeguard the integrity of the global financial system. We welcome the opportunity to share information and exchange ideas with our international partners and discuss experiences. These forums represent an important platform to explore the latest developments in regulatory structures across the economy and the financial crime compliance frameworks that underpin them.”
