[ad_1]

The President’s White House Fellows Committee called the person appointed this year “the most diverse class in the history of the program.”

The White House has appointed 19 young emerging leaders as fellows for 2021-22, including 3 Indian-Americans.

According to NDTV, Joy Basu, Sunny Patel and Aakash Shah are the three selected for the prestigious White House scholarship program.

The President’s White House Fellows Committee announced the appointees on Monday, calling it “the most diverse class in the history of the program.” The plan was created by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Basu is a native of San Francisco, graduated from Stanford University, and has been appointed to the White House Gender Policy Committee. Earlier, she served as a senior consultant for innovative companies seeking real and influential comprehensive growth.

Patel from California is a researcher at the Department of Homeland Security. Previously, he served as a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at New York University.

He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Ph.D. from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

Shah from New Jersey has been appointed as a member of the Department of Health and Medical Services. As a graduate of Harvard University, he helped treat some of the earliest confirmed Covid-19 cases when he was a physician in the emergency room at Hackensack Meridian Health.

The White House press release stated that the basis for inclusion in the program is a record of professional achievement, proof of leadership skills, potential for further development, and commitment to service.

“This year’s White House researchers were promoted through a competitive selection process. They are a very talented, enthusiastic, and accomplished group. More than half of the researchers are women, which generally reflects the diversity of the United States,” it said.

Applications for the 2022-23 scholarship year will be accepted from November 1st to January 7th, 2022
