UAE prosecutors have reminded residents that there are penalties for swearing at public servants.

Authorities said there would be “severe penalties” for defamation of persons performing official duties in the performance of or as a result of their official duties.

This is in accordance with Article 43 of Federal Decree No. 34 of 2021 on combating rumors and cybercrime.

The penalty for the same would be a fine of at least Dh250,000 to Dh500,000.
