Digital Art: Being Van Gogh
When: Throughout July
Where: Theatre of Digital Art
Learn about the tragic life of the Dutch artist, Vincent Van Gogh while being surrounded by his artwork. The experience focuses on the most productive period of his life when he moved to Arles in the South of France. It is based on the hundreds of letters that Van Gogh penned to his brother Theo Van Gogh, so there is no fiction involved. Tickets for the performance cost Dhs100 per adult and Dhs50 per child.

The Laughter Factory

Where: Different locations around Dubai
Three comedians are making their way to Dubai this July to fill your night with plenty of laughter. This month, Joe Larson, Peter Szumowski and female powerhouse, Kandi Abelson are headlining. Theatre: The Importance of Being Earnest

Where: The Junction
The ‘Importance of Being Earnest’ is being performed at The Junction this July as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises. The classic comedy by Oscar Wilde follows two young men who have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Jack has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolyn. Algernon decides to take the name Earnest when visiting Jack’s young and beautiful ward, Cecily. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and the truth is discovered by the two girls. Theatre: Scary Bad
When: August 5 to 7
Where: The Junction
This unique play’s genre is a horror-comedy. The play follows a group of childhood friends as they plan a weekend getaway to a lake house in the woods. However, as they try to escape the stresses of day to day life, they come across something more sinister they have to get away from. The play pokes fun at the cliches that make horror movies ‘scary bad’. Get your tickets here.

Film and orchestra: Joker
When: August 10 and 11
Where: Dubai Opera
Todd Phillips’ acclaimed film Joker is being screened at the Dubai Opera in August and it will be accompanied by a live orchestra playing the award-winning score. The film will be bought to life to create a vivid, visceral and entirely new Joker viewing experience by adding a depth of emotions, textures and atmosphere of Phoenix’s captivating portrayal. FYI: The musician, Hildur Gudnadottir who hails from Iceland won an Oscar Award for original score in 2020. Prices start from Dhs250 per person.

Theatre: The Heart of the Matter
When: August 19 to 21
Where: The Junction
This play weaves together different stories in four different languages, all connected by one theme – the heart. Based in London, audience members will witness four different stories: a couple looking back on their marriage, a man who speaks about the surprising consequence of losing a loved one, a child following his controversial passion and a group of women speaking about the different ways one man has impacted their lives. Theatre: Every Brilliant Thing

Concert: No Mercy

Marty Cintron, founder and lead singer of American pop band ‘No Mercy’ is performing at Dubai Opera in September. Martin will play his popular music that combines pop, soul, Latin rhythms, R&B, and the Mediterranean effect of the Spanish guitar, creating a groove of dancing and singing to the mix of upbeat and slow songs.

Theatre: Shakespeare in Love

The play follows a young Will Shakespeare and he has writer’s block. It happens to the best of us, but unfortunately, the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he’s in desperate need of inspiration. He meets his muse, a beautiful young woman named Viola who is also one of Will’s greatest admirer and will stop at nothing (including breaking the law) to appear in his next play. Against a bustling background of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming and backstage theatrics, Will’s love for Viola quickly blossoms and inspires him to write his greatest masterpiece, Romeo & Juliet.

Comedy: Russell Kane

British comedian Russell Kane is returning to the city for a headline show at Dubai Opera. The funnyman is known for his appearances on Live At Apollo, Celebrity Juice and I Am Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now. Guests are guaranteed unlimited laughs throughout the show, and we imagine after a year of not being able to get up on stage, Russell will be on top form by the time he touches down in Dubai. Wait Until Dark

The play is set in 1944 in Greenwich Village where a blind yet capable woman, Susan Hendrix is imperilled by a trio of men in her own apartment. As the climax builds, Susan discovers her impairment just might be the key to escaping. But she and her tormentors must wait until dark to play out this classic thriller & chilling

Alice in Wonderland

Join Alice as she follows the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole on board the QE2 in October. Rock the Ballet

Where: Dubai Opera
Pop and ballet are two genres that you would assume can’t share the stage. But at this dance performance, the two are thrown together resulting in a unique display. The young artists have performed on Broadway, starred in films and even performed on So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars, so a few of them may look familiar to you. Rigoletto

The Saintt Petersburg Chamber Opera production of ‘Rigoletto’ delivers a different take on this psychological drama, where instead of being a hunchback, the court jester is a sarcastic, witty, and angry man, and not old at all. Meet The Beatles

Theatre: Dial M for Murder

Dial M for Murder is a 1954 American crime mystery thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and it is coming to the stage at Dubai Opera in November. Tony Wendice is a jaded ex-tennis pro who has given it all up for his wife Margot. However, when he discovers she has been unfaithful his mind turns to revenge and he goes on the pursuit of the ‘perfect crime’.
