Local businessman Shafiq Samji has secured a letter of intent to open the first in Alabama 810 Billiards and Bowling— Myrtle Beach-based entertaining restaurant concept — at the former Whole Foods location at Hoover.
Samji and his partners are no strangers to the entertainment industry, having opened Altitude Trampoline Park in Pelham back in 2019. Most recently, they got a tax break to build a 60,000-person recreation center in Moody’s.
high end bowling
In an interview with Bham Now, Samji told us Whole Foods locations are approximately 50,000 square feet. He also described 810 Billiards & Bowling as “high-end bowling – nothing like your typical bowling alley.”
“The concept is very unique, with a great restaurant and multiple attractions.”
The site will have the following content:
- sports bar
- game station
- Classic Bowling Area
- board game
- And of course a pool table!
Samji hopes to open as many as eight 810 billiard and bowling alleys in the area.
His team hopes to work closely with the City of Hoover to resolve any zoning issues that may arise at Whole Foods, which has been closed since March 2020.
