WASHINGTON – This week, US Fire Chief Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Commissioner held an introductory meeting with the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai and met with the Dubai Police in preparation for the official launch of the US Arson Investigation Training Program in Dubai. The training program is expected to start in 2023. At the Dubai Police meeting, the Commissioner met senior officials and toured the facilities where the training will take place.
As part of the training program, the United States Fire Administration (USFA) and the National Fire Academy (NFA) will send qualified instructors to the UAE to train 50 new investigators.
“This partnership with Dubai Police is an example of how our two governments can work together to better protect our communities. We welcome the opportunity to train Dubai Police arson investigators and share best practices to enhance their capabilities, expand their expertise and improve overall security against bad actors,” said Dr. Moore-Merrell.
