The Navy said that some crew members of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Connecticut were slightly injured in the collision.

The U.S. Navy stated that a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine hit an “object” while diving into international waters in the Indo-Pacific region, causing some crew members to be injured.

The U.S. Navy said in a brief statement on Thursday that none of the crew on the “Connecticut” aircraft carrier suffered life-threatening injuries.

It added that the incident occurred on Saturday.

The statement said: “The submarine is still in a safe and stable state.” “The nuclear propulsion plant and space of the USS Connecticut aircraft carrier have not been affected and can still be fully operational.”

The statement did not specify the cause of the collision, the location of the accident, or the number of crew members injured.

The US official, who asked not to be named, told Reuters that the incident took place in the South China Sea and “fewer than 15 people” suffered minor injuries such as bruises and cuts. According to Reuters, two of the injuries were classified as “moderate.”

The statement said: “The safety of the crew remains the Navy’s top priority,” adding that the incident is under investigation.

The South China Sea is one of the most controversial and economically important waterways in the world. China claims to own almost the entire area under the disputed nine-dash line and has built artificial islands and military outposts in recent years.

Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, and the Philippines also have sovereignty over certain maritime areas, as does Taiwan.

This week, Malaysia Be called After the Chinese ship entered the territorial waters of Kuala Lumpur off the coast of Borneo, the Chinese envoy.

The United States has been carrying out so-called “freedom of navigation” operations in the South China Sea to safeguard the right and freedom of navigation in compliance with international law. Since the Hague International Arbitration Court in 2016 rejected China’s nine-dash line and ruled that Beijing has no historic ownership in the South China Sea, tensions in the region have only increased.

The US Navy stated that the submarine is now heading for Guam.

USS Connecticut is a Seawolf class fast attack submarine USS Connecticut (SSN 22) with a crew of 140, including 14 officers. The Navy stated that the Sea Wolf is “quiet, fast, well-equipped, and equipped with advanced sensors.” They also have eight torpedo tubes.
