The United States of America (USA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have secured their places in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers after finishing the top two in the competitive six-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers – Away.

With four wins from five matches, the U.S. sits at the top of the table, ahead of the UAE, whose victory over Jersey on the final day kept the U.S. level at the top of the standings. Hosts Namibia and Canada were in solid form, but won three each from five games and were just one step away from qualifying.

Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus was named the tournament’s best player with 279 points in five matches with an average of 69.75 points. Ali Khan of the United States tops the wicket charts with 16 wickets averaging 12.37.

The United States and the UAE are now one step closer to securing nine matches at the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India later this year.

Captain America Monanke Patel said:It’s a great feeling to qualify for the Zimbabwe qualifiers, and while we think it’s a huge achievement for USA Cricket, we players also know that we need to improve a lot to compete with bigger teams. The players and support staff worked tirelessly before and during the event and the hard work paid off. As I said before the play-offs, we have the opportunity to play two World Cups in less than 12 months and this team will continue to believe and work towards that goal. “

UAE captain Mohammad Waseem said: “We are very pleased to confirm our qualifier place in Zimbabwe. Before Namibia enters the tournament, we have a clear aim to play our best and play aggressive and fearless cricket. I would like to thank the players and us To all the support staff, thanks for their tireless efforts to make this a success.

“Our batsmen have been fantastic for us lately and the bowlers and outfielders have given them great support. The whole team needs to perform at the same level and show the same commitment and enthusiasm so that we can play at the Zimbabwe achieved excellence.”

In a bid to reach the pinnacle global event of one-day international cricket, the United States and the United Arab Emirates will compete with eight other teams from Zimbabwe for two spots. These will include the three automatic qualifiers from the ICC CWC League 2 – Scotland, Oman and Nepal – in addition to the fifth bottom team in the ICC ODI Super League.

Currently, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and West Indies have been confirmed to play in the Zimbabwe qualifiers, while Ireland must beat Bangladesh 3-0 in the upcoming Super League series to surpass South Africa and enter the World Cup directly.

The qualifying rounds will be the culmination of four years of grueling competition as 32 teams begin their search for a place in the largest ever ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
