Mahbubul Hoque, Rector of Meghalaya University of Science and Technology (USTM), will host the 20th Sharjah Heritage Days in Sharjah, the third most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 1 to 21 March.
Organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute, the 20th edition will be held under the theme ‘Heritage and Creativity’.
Hoque will be accompanied by three USTM research scholars.
The event will be attended by local and federal government as well as international representatives as well as chiefs and dignitaries under the patronage of Supreme Council member and ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
This edition will celebrate two decades of preserving and protecting the nation’s heritage, which embodies national identity and represents a safety valve.
Sharjah Heritage Days is the emirate’s flagship heritage festival. Dr. Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, invited the Prime Minister as a guest of honor at the inauguration.
The research scholars accompanying the Chancellor were Sazedur Rahman Akanda from Department of Pharmacology, Allama Tayeebur Rahman from Faculty of Pharmacy, Badarpur (an institution under ERDF), Lilika K. Zhimomi from Department of Rural Development, USTM and Sarmistha Choudhury, Department of Education, USTM .
