As diplomatic advisor to the UAE President and a seasoned diplomat, Dr Anwar Gargash frequently shares the UAE’s perspective when speaking about news and developments in the country, the region and beyond. The politician is active on social media, often posting his thoughts on all things UAE.

Dr Gargash recently posted on the microblogging platform Twitter his hilarious response to the daily intelligence calling him a “spy”.

“Over the years representing the UAE, I’ve been called many names, but Spy is really weird,” he tweeted.

“It’s mission impossible right now,” he added, referring to the American action spy film series “Mission: Impossible.”

Several people responded to the tweets with the laughing out loud (LOL) emoji, as they showed their support for the veteran Emirati diplomat.

Social media influencer Hassan Sajwani called the post a “good post”, while Ali Khalifa called the report a “stupid story” because the daily was “linked to intelligence services” and had “zero credibility”.

Mzahem Alsaloum called Dr Gargash “the coolest guy ever”, while Marwan Balooshi quipped that “it’s a mixed feeling being seen as a spy”. There’s another guy named Tom Cruise – he played Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible movie.

Sultan Al Samahi posted a tweet in support of the diplomat, saying: “I am sorry to hear that you have been so unfairly accused. Being called a spy is a serious allegation and should not be taken lightly. Heads held high Stand tall and continue to represent the UAE with pride and dignity.”

One Twitter user, @lightning660, even had the AI chatbot ChatGPT comment on Dr. Gargash’s response. “It appears that this individual expressed surprise and disbelief at being called a spy while representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They found the allegation grotesque and far-fetched, likening it to a Mission Impossible mission in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie. This may indicate that they feel they have been wrongly blamed and want to emphasize the absurdity of the claim.”
