A fire broke out in the Dutch city of Teraar on Saturday. In a video that has surfaced on social media, several homes can be seen on fire while an ambulance is called to the scene. People gathered in front of their homes and appeared to be waiting for rescuers to evacuate them from the scene.
Local media NOS reported that it will take hours to extinguish the fire, and there have been no reports of casualties.
The NOS report also said an explosion was also heard, which the outlet attributed to a gas cylinder from a forklift.
Pictures and videos of the blaze abounded on social media. Here are some of them:
The fire department has asked people to stay away from the scene because the ash particles falling from the fire are very dangerous. It added that, in addition to ash particles, shards of glass from solar panels were very sharp and could also cause serious injury.
Those living nearby were asked to close windows and doors and turn off mechanical ventilation. It was not immediately clear if anyone was inside the facility or how the fire broke out.
