Dubai International Humanitarian City (IHC) facilitated the three Boeing 747 cargo flights of the Royal Dubai Air Force fleet and provided services in accordance with instructions from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The three flights will deliver 283,805 kilograms of medicines, medical supplies and medical kits to Sudan to support the Sudanese people, relieve their suffering and save precious lives.

This humanitarian air bridge is in response to the ongoing health emergency faced by the Sudanese people. The severe shortage of essential medicines and the congestion of the Port Sudan business due to the backlog of containers have delayed the distribution of important medical supplies and increased the number of internally displaced persons (IDP). ) And the vulnerability of refugees. The rainy season in Sudan has also led to an increase in the frequency of water-borne diseases, further complicating medical emergencies.

At 09:00 am on Sunday, October 24, the first flight of three people to Sudan departed from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Khartoum, carrying 92,220 kilograms of medicines, medical assistance and health kits provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) At the same time, the second flight will depart from DXB to Khartoum on Wednesday, October 27, carrying 93,097 kg of further aid supplies, and the following third flight will depart from DXB to Khartoum on Thursday, October 28. This air bridge represents the largest single air bridge ordered between the United Arab Emirates and Sudan. The World Health Organization (WHO) will deliver urgently needed medicines and health supplies from its logistics center in Dubai to Khartoum to meet the health needs of 1.5 million people and support the protection of more than 300,000 frontline health workers. Goods worth more than US$2 million also include essential pediatric medicines.

These materials will be distributed as soon as they arrive at health facilities in 19 states across Sudan. The Dubai Logistics Center of WHO is also deploying technicians to provide supplies to facilitate operations.

This year, the WHO logistics center in Dubai delivered a total of 25 shipments worth US$1.4 million to Sudan. In 2020, the hub will support the delivery of 8 lifelines to Sudan, valued at US$900,000.

Through its logistics center in Dubai, WHO is able to deliver life-saving supplies to countries around the world immediately and efficiently. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the center has sent more than US$90 million in sanitary products to more than 120 countries.
