The Russian consulate in New York was vandalized with red spray paint on Saturday. The paint came hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four regions of Ukraine occupied by Moscow’s forces, according to AFP.

Police said they were investigating the incident, which may have been a “bias incident”. Police added that no arrests have been made so far.
