Virgin Mobile’s UAE service resumes after weekend outage

[ad_1]

Normal service resumed on Sunday for Virgin Mobile customers who were unable to use data or make calls over the weekend.

Some users reported problems accessing the internet and making online payments through digital wallets, and some of them said they were unable to make important calls due to service interruptions.

Virgin Atlantic said the outage was caused by a “technical issue” but issued a statement saying the network had resumed normal operations on Sunday.

In response to several tweets from disgruntled users, the company informed users that the issue had been resolved earlier in the afternoon.

“Unfortunately, we encountered a technical issue that has now been resolved and we apologize for the inconvenience,” it said in a tweet.

Virgin users across the country have complained that this is the second time in a week they have faced the same problem.

Twitter user @T9M85 tagged the company in a post shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday.

“@VirginMobileUAE this is the second time your network is down this week,” she said.

“I went out and held on for 30 [minutes] No ability to call a taxi.

“I can’t access the app at midnight to reload my wallet for renewal. This is ridiculous. What the hell is going on?”

Another user said she fell on the side of the road and was unable to contact emergency services.

“I wonder what happened to @VirginMobileUAE because I’m sitting on the side of the road and can’t get help,” @irenespots said.

“The whole week was not complete, but it was a disaster for me.

“Too late for me. Being stranded with a flat tire and not connecting is horrible.”

A third user @zhiping wrote: “Your entire network is [second] There has been no announcement for a few days when services will resume,” he said, flagging the UAE’s Government Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Digital.
