Later in the meeting, a board member read Kim’s emailed statement, and she apologized for the earlier statement. She also expressed the importance of her children being able to go to school without a mask.
“In no way is I trying to imply that all guns are loaded like actual guns, I can gather all the resources to make sure my kids can go to school without a mask,” she said. “I’m sincere for my wrong choice of language. apology.”
Despite her apology, Principal Antonia M. Fox and school board char Megan Gordon said every school in the area would have increased police presence.
“Comments like these go against not only everything we hope to shape for our students, but the very nature of how we should interact as a community,” Fox and Gordon said in a statement. “Violence and threats are never acceptable or unacceptable. appropriate.”
