A spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was not seriously injured after he collided with another vehicle after a battlefield visit.

Mr Zelensky was returning to Kyiv from the Kharkiv region, where he visited troops from the recaptured city of Izium.

His spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said in a Facebook post that a passenger car collided with the president’s motorcade in the Ukrainian capital.

The driver of the other vehicle received first aid from Mr Zelensky’s medical team and was taken away by ambulance, he said.

Medics examined the president, who was not seriously injured, Nikiforov wrote. He did not specify what injuries Mr Zelensky may have suffered.

The spokesman added that the circumstances of the accident were under investigation.

Mr Zelensky was late in posting the nightly video address he provided during the war, possibly because of a car accident.

Meanwhile, Russian troops have targeted critical infrastructure in the president’s hometown.

Eight cruise missiles aimed at water equipment hit a city on the Inkhurec River, 93 miles southwest of Dnipro, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the presidential office, said on his Telegram channel. Kryvyi Rih.

Mr Zelensky said the strike appeared to be an attempt to flood the city and a dam on the reservoir was hit.

Videos posted online showed elevated water levels at the entrance and flooded city streets, with residents advised to evacuate.
