Warehouse421 is a local art and design center dedicated to displaying and cultivating creative products from the entire region. The grant supports practice-based research to study new social issues through an interdisciplinary approach, including but not limited to visual arts and curatorial, design and technology, literature and art, culinary arts, music, theater, and performance.

The goal of the grant is to investigate the intersection of these disciplines with social and cultural issues, such as public and public space, language and linguistics, transportation and mobility systems, urbanity and its social and cultural structure, economics and immigration, and artistic institutions And the ecosystem.

The Art Research Grant aims to support rigorous investigations and in-depth art research across multiple disciplines by focusing on art and promoting more substantial participation between creative practitioners in the region and their communities.

This year’s grant recipient is Camilla Singh, an interdisciplinary artist, contemporary art curator, writer and educator, with 15 years of experience in the field; Moza Al Matrooshi, a conceptual artist and writer , His practice operates in the study of myths that have been erased from the Arabian Peninsula and connects these myths with the structures supported by the current regional political climate; Sahil Naik, a sculptor, studies the evidence potential of architecture and landscape and its testimony The ability of time and events; Vikram Divecha, whose practice transforms between public art, site-specific interventions, installations, films, paintings, drawings, photography, and texts; Vishal Kumaraswamy (Vishal Kumaraswamy) He is an artist and filmmaker, and the founder of the international artist group “Now You Have Authority”.

By adopting a collaborative approach to organize and curate exhibitions, Warehouse421 also cooperates with the Bombay Institute for Critical Analysis and Research (BICAR) and cooperates with curators from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Through the curatorial development plan, Warehouse421 is looking for curators to propose a group exhibition and publication on “Future Perfection: Disaster and Contemporary”-a perspective of the future. Mona Al-Jadir is an Iraqi-Canadian architect who grew up in Abu Dhabi. For learning, experimentation, and display, Warehouse421 will also support mid-career creative practitioners registered at the New York University School of Art (NYUAD) to develop their projects and strengthen the institutional relationship between Warehouse421 and New York University for future cooperation.
