Abu Dhabi Police posted a video on its social media platforms on Friday showing the dangers of residents crossing the road in non-designated areas.
Video shows a man hurrying down a busy road at a roundabout. Just as he was about to walk across the road, a car collided with him after crossing two of the three lanes.
In another instance in the clip, two men jaywalk on a busy road before being hit by a pickup truck.
In the past, residents have been urged to avoid jaywalking and not to cross at non-designated spots. For their own safety, they are advised to use pedestrian bridges and zebra crossings.
Jaywalking is fined Dh400 as it poses a danger to both pedestrians and road users.
