Video shows car driving on flooded road as heavy rain pours past airport
Temperatures in the UAE are likely to drop significantly over the next few days, with rain expected to hit at least four emirates this morning.
Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain in Abu Dhabi were initially cloudy with light to moderate rain on Thursday morning.
The National Meteorological Center has released video of vehicles driving through the rain in Rahmaniyah, Sharjah early this morning.
Meanwhile, Al Batayih in Sharjah also experienced rain today, with light rain in the Kalba and Al Rafee’a areas of the emirate.
A video posted on Twitter by the storm center also showed heavy rains in central Maliha Sharjah, with residents and drivers experiencing waterlogging.
Fujairah International Airport is also raining today.
The NCM has issued an alert as strong winds continue to blow through parts of the UAE.
A weather forecast report from the NCM said, “From Thursday to Monday, the country will be affected by the extension of the low pressure system from the east. The islands will be partly cloudy to partly cloudy for parts of the day, with light to moderate rainfall possible and temperatures dropping significantly.”
The report further states, “Northwest winds sometimes become fresh and strong, causing sand and dust, and easterly to northeasterly winds sometimes become mild to refreshing. Seas in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman are sometimes choppy.”
