Wearing leather jackets and helmets, more than 1,000 motorcyclists sped down the UAE’s highways to mark the UAE’s 51st National Day.

At 9 a.m. sharp on Friday morning, they sped their motorcycles onto the highway at the International Marine Club in Fujairah—crossing other emirates, including Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. As many as 83 groups participated in the event.

Cyclists from Dubai and Sharjah also joined the convoy.

“When the convoy reached the university area in Sharjah, I joined them with my son and other cyclists,” said Shahid Saeed, a cyclist from the Indian city of Hyderabad.

Once the group arrived in Ajman, the lines of sport bikes, cruisers, and dirt bikes got longer. “We stop in every emirate to welcome cyclists into the convoy,” Syed said.

The roads come alive as the club chants every time someone joins. The expat added that the convoy stretched for almost five kilometers.

They then continued on to Ras Al Khaimah via Al Shuhada Road – stopping at Sheikh Suhail Bin Hasher Farm in Manama, Ras Al Khaimah for the National Day Gala. They had an Emirati dinner and enjoyed some live entertainment.

Saeed said the cyclists were not only from the UAE. “Hundreds of them were from other GCC countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain – all to celebrate UAE National Day.”

Syed’s son Ayaan Syed enjoyed every bit of the expedition. “It was great to see so many cyclists. The adrenaline was pumping with the roar of these bikes,” Ayaan said.

“The campaign also showcases the unity and diversity that the country offers to every citizen, expatriate and tourist who comes or lives here.”
