Watch out for these new traffic fines in the UAE

Yesterday, the UAE implemented some new traffic regulations. Here’s everything you need to know…

Thursday, May 18, Ministry of the Interior New traffic fines have been introduced for bad weather and emergencies to improve road safety in the UAE. Important update pertaining to all drivers and motorists in the UAE.

Here’s what UAE drivers should know about the new traffic fines:

Gathering near valleys, floods and dams in rainy weather will be fined Dh1,000 and six demerit points.

Motorists who enter flooded valleys during heavy rain, regardless of the degree of danger, will be fined Dh2,000, 23 demerit points and their vehicle will be impounded for 60 days.

Drivers who obstruct ambulances, emergency vehicles, rescue personnel or any relevant authority regulating traffic will be fined Dh1,000, four demerit points and their vehicle impounded for 60 days.

Hussein Al Harthi, Chairman of the Federal Transport Commission, added, “Constant efforts are underway to enhance the UAE’s achievements and realize the vision of its wise leadership, which aims to make the country the best, safest and most secure in the world To have a role to play.”

UAE road closures

The Dubai Boardwalk will be closed for major maintenance from Monday 17 April until Monday 22 May.

The 16-year-old bridge spans the Dubai Creek, linking Deira and Bur Dubai. During the closure, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is urging motorists to use alternative routes and has a plan in place to keep traffic flowing.
