Enoc opens petrol berth at former Expo 2020 site with innovative design inspired by UAE’s national tree, Ghaf

Enoc Group announced today that its ‘Service Station of the Future’ is now open to the public at Expo City Dubai as part of the Expo’s enduring sustainable legacy.
Dubai Expo City is now ready to host 145,000 residents and workers, becoming the UAE’s first 15-minute city (a bike-friendly, traffic-free suburb of Dubai’s growing metropolis) with facilities close to 85 start-ups and small businesses that will Occupy commercial space later this year.

Inspired by the UAE’s rich heritage in the form of the national tree, the Ghaf, in addition to the 37 tonnes of carbon fibre used to construct the 133 multi-purpose buildings, more than 43,000 square metres of carbon fibre was used to construct the canopy. The layered canopy frame contains a transparent, innovative leaf-shaped ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) cushion canopy and is powered by more than 3,800 LED light modules.
The 5,841.87-square-meter power station harnesses renewable energy through 283 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels installed to generate 143MWh of solar energy, in addition to a 25m wind turbine, which will generate 12.7 square meters annually within the 4.38-square-kilometer Expo site. Since its launch, the Future Service Station has been recognized by several global and local agencies for its innovative design and sustainable features. In addition to being LEED Platinum—an internationally recognized building certification system from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its strong focus on renewable energy, water conservation, energy conservation, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions—the service station has been awarded the Multiple awards, including the 2021 Master Builder Award, the CSR Award at the Creativity of the Year Award, the Sustainable Project of the Year Award and the Design Innovation Award at the Middle East Design Awards.
Recently, Future Service Station won the Arabian Energy Efficiency Day competition for “Best Energy Management System for Industrial Facilities” in Cairo, Egypt.
