Sharjah’s University Town Hall was ablaze on Wednesday – with stunning fireworks in the sky and a light show painting its façade.grand display marks the Sharjah Light Festival this year.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) kicked off the 12th edition of the festival with a spectacle titled Chasing the Light – “a story about finding flickers of light and a thread in shadow as we try to keep the flames alive.” The story of hope is alive with curiosity”.

This year’s Sharjah Light Festival presents performances and events in a new format, highlighting the emirate’s unique urban and architectural features, as well as its cultural identity.

Captivating light shows and art displays will adorn buildings and destinations across the emirate, with seven international artists joining a group of emerging creative artists.

Khalid Jasim Al said, “The Sharjah Light Festival has become a major event that the public looks forward to every year to create unforgettable memories, immortalized in thousands of posts on various social media platforms, bringing joy to millions of followers” Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA.

“In Sharjah, we are proud of all that we have achieved and celebrate the festival’s popularity and strong reputation, which has had a tangible and positive impact on domestic and international tourism in the emirate.”

Al Midfa said the festival’s success is the result of the tireless efforts of the authorities, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the unlimited support of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler, Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council.

Venues that will be lit up as part of the festival include: University Town Hall, Al Noor Mosque, Khalid Lagoon Corniche, Sharjah Mosque, Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Al Hamriyah Municipal Building and Al Dhaid Fort. Also on the list are the Al Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan, the Kalba Clock Tower, the Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn and the headquarters of the BEEAH Group.

The list also includes Light Village, with a total area of ​​over 19,000 square meters, featuring 41 UAE-owned small and medium-sized projects, offering visitors a variety of food, beverages and sweets. The Light Museum is also on the list, along with areas dedicated to games, entertainment and live performances, offering an integrated experience and engaging entertainment destination for families. The Authority aims to attract more than 60,000 visitors to the village throughout the festival.
