We caught up with Westlife ahead of their show in Abu Dhabi

Acclaimed Irish boy band Westlife will perform in Abu Dhabi for the first time on Thursday 29 September at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

The four-piece Irish boy band previously played in Dubai in August 2019at the time they were among the first actors to take the stage at the Coca-Cola Arena.

We interviewed Nicky Bourne ahead of their show

“We absolutely love live performances; our oldies always love this special connection wingless flight and you encouraged me With our fans,” Nicky Byrne, one of four Westlife members, told us. “We get so excited every time we see our fans singing with us and lighting up their phone lights in the air— —There is nothing like that feeling. “

“We can’t wait. Dubai 2019 was a great show for us, and the Middle East is a place we always love to go back to,” Nicky said.

Westlife has a nearly 25-year career with huge success, a testament to their unwavering dedication to their fans.

“Fans are the reason we love touring so much. Seeing a large group of people come together, sing, dance, and have a good time is why we do what we do,” explains Nikki.

Having performed on stages around the world for more than two decades, people would think there’s nothing left to impress them, but the recent sold-out performance at Wembley was a real “pinch me moment”, he said what happened.

Westlife is currently working on their wild dream The tour, a rescheduled version of their summer tour, was originally scheduled for summer 2020.Bands use the Covid-19 pandemic as an opportunity to create new music, and wild dream – Westlife’s 18th studio album – to be released in late 2021.

“Creating and recording our new album was a very different process for us. We were able to really get involved in the process and sit at home with writers and producers from all over the world during the pandemic. . . We’re really proud of it,” Nikki shared.

The tour begins in June and runs until February 2023, with stops in cities in the UK, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The tour is special to Westlife because it gives the band the opportunity to reconnect with fans, learn about the world and get creative. Nicky explained: “We had a great summer tour, playing in various stadiums in Ireland and the UK. We’ve been thinking about what’s coming next, and now that’s the rest of the tour, and we’ve been for a long time. Unreachable country. Being on the road is always good for creativity, so I’m sure we’ll be thinking about new musical ideas in the near future.”

Fans will have the opportunity to hear classic songs from many Irish superstars, but their current favourite to play is the album’s lead single, starlight: “It’s a cheerful song and it feels like a big celebration – we really enjoyed the live performances”.

As one of the most respected boy bands in the world, you won’t be blamed for wondering if there’s any sense of normalcy in their lives. When asked what a typical day in the Westlife world looks like, Nicky tells us that every band member has a different routine.

“I like to get up in the morning, go to the gym and the spa, eat a healthy breakfast. Then we usually go to the stadium at lunchtime, rehearse and audition, watch our kids run around and play football; then we’ll Try to rest for a few hours before going on stage.”

After performing on stage for the better part of their lives, these guys insist on having a special pre-show ritual: “No matter how big or small the show is, we make sure we have a small party before going on stage. It’s where we get into the area and really A great way to accept everything.”
