The Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) and the Dubai Solar Show (DSS) have seen growing participation from exhibitors, sponsors and investors from GCC countries.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under his patronage, organized the 24th Wetex and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Energy Council, Dubai Solar Show, 27-29 September 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
During Wetex and DSS, exhibitors, sponsors and investors from GCC countries seek to learn about the latest technologies, innovative solutions and investment opportunities in clean and renewable energy, water, green economy, smart cities and sustainable development. This helps them keep up with the region’s growing demand for clean and renewable energy. This is in line with the GCC countries’ national strategy, which focuses on economic diversification and reducing reliance on oil and gas, energy and water consumption and emissions to achieve carbon neutrality and the 2030 UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). He also drew attention to a number of solar initiatives and projects implemented by the Kingdom, including the Al Khafji desalination plant using advanced reverse osmosis technology with a scalable desalinated water production capacity of approximately 90,000 cubic meters per day.
