What would the Nigerian entertainment industry be without DAAR?

[ad_1]

The apotheosis of Dokpesi Anthony Aleojo Raymond (DAAR) was confirmed in Ajnabod, Edo State in the penultimate week when, in a noble moment worthy of honour, his remains Rested in a mausoleum at his riverside residence, as a permanent testimony to his descendants “here lives the spirit of a man who brought very deep and memorable moments to this country.”

The platform of DAAR Communications (the broadcaster of AIT, Raypower and FAAJI FM), the irresistible platform that Dokpesi uses to tell the stories of the poor and struggling people of Nigeria of all kinds and raises quite a digital star, a platform that brings the beauty of our culture to life (music, film, arts and crafts, and straightforward storytelling) internalized, bringing his heroics to the global community. Stars become gods, comets fill the sky!

A lot of people told me they didn’t really know this man, and he had such an impact on this country, his profile is now much bigger than anyone could have imagined.

Yes, they now agree with me that this country never really got to know Dok Pesci, and unfortunately, never will. So for as long as I can remember, the country’s leadership has pressured him to leave, something we all regret now. Because, by all indications, he has more to offer for a country that always devours the best. But that hasn’t stopped his followers, admirers and beneficiaries from speaking the truth. Nothing but truth, the sure truth that hurts the wicked.

For the past few weeks, say a few days now in over a month, I have asked myself one question: Where would the Nigerian entertainment industry be without Dok Pesci? Is the answer to this question like giving a person an overwhelming sense of accomplishment?

Two fateful dates changed the entertainment story in this country. On September 1, 1994, Raypower 100.5, the country’s first privately owned radio station, aired; on December 6, 1996, the first privately owned TV station, African Independent Television (AIT), introduced TV viewing diversity to our screens, Courtesy Dokpesi Bold Ventures. It was a dangerous plunge into the abyss, but the success that followed and the country’s hunger for meaningful entertainment made all this pain bearable, if not enjoyable.

Entertainment hopefuls used to hang out at the few available government radio stations, knocking on doors that might never have been opened to them. You know that monopoly breeds arrogance, which was prevalent in Nigeria in the past.

Several entertainers tell their stories in Dok Pesci’s authorized biography, “Handkerchief.”This is the story of Wale Adenuga, one of Nigeria’s largest content producers, whose hit TV shows include Pope Ajasco and super story.

“My vision and dream was to bring these characters from magazines to the TV screen. Before that, I had been running from one post to another. I had been to a few TV stations, but then I wasn’t very lucky until I got to AIT, and soon, the offer was welcomed and accepted. He provided me with equipment, money and everything else, and I produced under the supervision of their producers. In 1997, harsco dad TV dramas were born at AIT.At that time, it was called Ajasco family. It turned out beautifully. From the very first episode, we started making waves. In short, the plan would not have been possible without Aleogho’s intervention that year, and I handed it over to him. At the same time, he also funded and produced such as ” family circle There are many others. So most of us today’s big producers are very grateful to High Chief for making our dreams come true. I can never forget. He was sent by God because God actually sent him to help us fulfill our life ambitions. ’” Adnuja said in the book.

Idris Abdulkarim nigeria with divider Fame also has his testimony. “Without Kenny Ogombe, there would be no Idris Karim. There would be no Timaya, D-Banj, and New School Music. Without Raymond Aleyojo Dokpesi Chiefs, there would be no Kenny Ogombe. Visible spirituality. I can’t possibly talk about Chief Raymond Aleogo Dokpesi and I won’t talk about Kenny Ogombe..Raymond Chief de Aleogo Dokpesi, thank you sir. Representing the new school are those who started with Raypower Africa, now known all over the world as Afro Beat.”

He listed some of the beneficiaries as follows: Daddy Showkey, Lagbaja, Baba Fryo, Nicrogravity, 2 Face Idibia, and even Sunny Ade. The addition of Sunny Ade may be viewed quite differently. But there’s an unbroken connection between Sonny Ad and Dok Pesci that probably needs a dedicated episode to explain.

Let me turn to the case of Kenny Ogungbe, which is more interesting and seems to have a strong nod to Dok Pesci Broadcasting’s early achievements. Ogombe once lived in Los Angeles. As Nigeria deregulates broadcasting, Ogombe gave Dok Pesci a tour of the Steve Wanders radio station in Los Angeles. Doc Pesci saw the studio and the quality of the music and needed no more convincing. “I need to bring this quality of broadcasting to Nigeria,” he told himself. He ordered the equipment on the spot. The initial amount is staggering.

Ogombe will return to Nigeria to form the nucleus of a risk-taking group of young men and women that will make broadcast history in the country. He produced some live radio shows and developed a cadre of aspiring musicians who would eventually become stars under his new music label, Kenny’s Music. Quite a few of them have moved on. But Ogombe, small, a nickname that would eat his name, Already made his point. He’s making stars, why is he also a big star with D-One. The music sector of the entertainment industry is experiencing a renaissance, and Nollywood is loading fast. The country’s entertainment industry has become a global problem, but some are paying the price.

I always comfort myself with the message that Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, almost entirely by virtue of his ambitious investments and visionary claims to broadcasting, has done more than anyone else The entertainment industry can be established. Because really, entertainment is at the center of content, and content is the backbone of broadcasting. In this complex relationship, Dok Pesci is weaving a beautiful story that can be told from Africa, especially Nigeria-led Africa.

Zeb Ejiro, better known as the Chief of Nollywood, told me a story that makes us all vie for fond memories from the past.

“Dock Pesci was a guy who didn’t know how to say no to his friends. He would put himself at a very disadvantage to help people. He always found a way. domitilla One of the best movies of the 90’s, all thanks to Dokpesi. I went to NTA with the movie and they asked for N6m.I go to Dokpesi and tell him we need to go to the movies with him domitilla. Then you cut the promo. I want it to be as loud as Benson and Hedges in Lagos. He said, we will speak louder.and domitilla become popular. He saw beautiful things from afar,” recalls Zeeb.

Like most of us, Zeb Ejiro refuses to believe that this man has come a long way, so that the present and the past are mixed in the system. The last thing I want to affirm though is that Dokpesi and the showbiz conveniently hugged each other, but the latter climbed onto his broad shoulders and grabbed society’s attention.
