Temperatures are steadily dropping, and people in Dubai can finally get out and about. From a picnic in the park to camping in the peaceful dunes, it’s all on the cards. This is when Dubai is at its best.

Winter makes a huge difference in one’s experience in the city. Temperatures in the UAE dropped to 16ºC.

Residents have started going out for morning jogs and evening walks. Khaleej Times spoke to some families about their outdoor plans, as it’s finally that time of year.

Ariel Robinson, a fitness trainer who has lived in Dubai for 14 years, is an avid hiker.

“Walking and shopping around Old Dubai and having dinner by the creek with the family are fun because of the cool weather. I am also looking forward to hiking in Jebel Jais as it is the best time for hiking and trekking,” Ariel told Khaleej Times.

The seaside in winter has a unique atmosphere in the emirate. Cafes and restaurants offer outdoor seating on the beach, creating a great atmosphere in this weather. During this season, people also prefer to drive to different emirates and road trips are now becoming a new trend.

RS is a Maltese expat who has lived in Dubai for the past 19 years. She told the Khaleej Times that she is always looking for air-conditioned pet-friendly cafes near her residence for her pets. Now that winter is here, she’s more than happy to take her dog where she won’t.

Outdoor pursuits are indeed very necessary and span all ages. Due to the pandemic, the concept of outdoor treading has been forgotten, especially by children.

Zahiya Waseem, a housewife and mother of three living in Al Nahda, is delighted to be spending this time with her family. Her children enjoy desert safari and traversing the wadi of the country’s mountains.

“This year we’ve actually planned the entire season because the pandemic has been closing in on us for the past two years. This time Insha’Allah we’ll be hitting the road and camping in Hatta, so we’ll be doing a lot of exploring this winter,” Zahiya added.

So what are you waiting for? Dust off those hoodies from your closet and get ready for a cozy winter day.
