Wizz Air Abu Dhabi Celebrates Sixfold Passenger Growth, Doubling Fleet Size by 2022

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s ultra-low-fare national carrier, today announced its stellar operating results for 2022.

The joint venture between ADQ and Wizz Air Holdings PLC hit an all-time high in 2022, operating more than 6,000 flights and carrying more than 1.2 million adventurous travelers. The national carrier will carry more than 600,000 point-to-point passengers to the UAE in 2022, supporting the sustainable development of Abu Dhabi’s culture and tourism industry and providing eclectic travel opportunities for all types of travelers.

The airline supports the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism’s vision to welcome the world to Abu Dhabi, connect cultures and inspire generations to embark on a journey of creativity and discovery.

Wizz Air currently flies from Abu Dhabi to 36 destinations in 25 different countries and is poised to further accelerate and expand operations in 2023, offering cost-effective and unique experiences to travel enthusiasts looking to explore. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi doubled the size of its fleet and organization with a 100% increase from four to eight new state-of-the-art A321-neo aircraft. The average age of the fleet is 1 year, ensuring the airline lives up to its commitment to sustainability with the lowest environmental footprint in the region.
