[ad_1]

Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing and one of the world’s most environmentally sustainable airlines, reports that its average carbon emissions in 2022 will be 55.2 grams per passenger kilometer, a reduction of 15.4% compared to 2021 and the highest ever The lowest record airline in a calendar year.

Wizz Air has the lowest carbon footprint per passenger/km of any rival airline and has committed to reducing its carbon intensity by a further 25% by 2030. An integral part of Wizz Air’s sustainability strategy is fleet renewal. The airline has been continuously adding new Airbus A321neo aircraft and replacing older aircraft to its fleet, adding 34 Airbus A321neos to its fleet by 2022. The share of the new “neo” technology aircraft in Wizz Air’s fleet is planned to reach more than 50 percent by the end of the current financial year, according to the company.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 177 Airbus aircraft with an average age of 4.6 years, well below the average fleet age of its main competitor of about 10 years. In 2022, more than 90% of all Wizz Air flights to and from the UAE will be on its most sustainable A321neo aircraft.

The new Airbus A321neo incorporates the latest in aviation technology and offers significant environmental benefits, with an almost 50% reduction in noise footprint, 20% reduction in fuel consumption and 50% reduction in NOx emissions compared to the previous model. Wizz Air is Europe’s largest operator of the Airbus A321neo and has one of the world’s largest independent orders for more than 300 of the planes, which will help the airline achieve its sustainability goals, a company spokesman said.

Johan Eidhagen, Chief People and ESG Officer, Wizz Air, said: “We are proud that Wizz Air passengers are making the most environmentally responsible choice when they choose to fly with us. By operating the most efficient and modern aircraft and Focused on making a positive impact, we are an industry leader in sustainability.
