Wizz Air Continues to Thrive as Summer Passenger Numbers Are Released

[ad_1]

London – Budapest-based and fast-growing budget airline Wizz Air has released passenger numbers for June and August 2022. Wizz topped the list of “fastest growing major airlines” as measured by passenger numbers from the third quarter of 2019 to the same period in 2022.

Network expansion and growth

This summer proved it, transporting 12.9 million passengers during the peak summer season. The number of these passengers increased by 76% compared to the same period last year. Helping to achieve the record numbers are 13 new Airbus aircraft, which also support the airline’s sustainability goals to some extent.

Given its ever-expanding network, the growing number of passengers is not surprising, with 63 additional routes to 38 destinations in Europe and the Middle East. To support these growing route expansions, they have a total of 315 Airbus aircraft on order for delivery in 2027.

Wizz Air prides itself on being one of the most sustainable airlines, with their overarching sustainability goal of reducing their environmental footprint per passenger kilometer by 25% by the end of the century. The key to making this possible may lie in the order book.

Of the 315 aircraft on order, 231 are of the A321neo family – a model that consumes 30% less fuel per seat than previous aircraft.

There are also 47 newer A321 XLRs with comparable fuel consumption, but with an increased range of 500 nautical miles. This is said to reduce airline costs by as much as 45 percent if serving routes that typically use wide-body aircraft.

Wizz Air Management Statement

Evelin Jeckel, Network Officer, Wizz Air “We are proud to be flying record numbers of passengers during the peak summer season, especially given the well-documented challenges facing the tourism industry as a whole,” said Mr.

“These three months have been another exciting period of expansion, with some key highlights including the announcement of 20 new routes from Europe to Saudi Arabia, and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flights to Kuwait and Maldives from October. “

“Not only that, but we have relaunched multiple winter routes from bases across Europe in a timely manner, giving our customers more choice when deciding on their next destination. We would like to thank our loyal customers for continuing to choose Wizz Air because Its low fares, diverse route network, excellent in-flight service and ultra-efficient aircraft.”

generalize

Helping the airline thrive are its smaller subsidiaries, which have run out of base airports in selected countries. Between Wizz Air UK, Abu Dhabi and the soon-to-be-launched Wizz Air Malta, there really doesn’t seem to be any stopping the Hungarian ultra-low-cost airline’s expansion.

CEO Joszef Varadi is optimistic about the future of Wizz Abu Dhabi, saying that in the next few years it can grow from a small fleet operator with just four aircraft currently to an airline with up to 100 aircraft, offering horizontal Flights across Abu Dhabi. Middle East, Africa and Indian Subcontinent.
