WOLF!, Brooklyn’s Precious Guitarist Scott Metzger“Telecaster rock trio,” with bassist Jon Shaw and drummer Taylor Floreth, returns with a new EP after a six-year hiatus, adult entertainment, will be released on October 28 via Royal Potato Family.sounds like pulp Fiction and endless summer Running together under a full moon, WOLF!’s greasy instrumental rumble weaves surf, country rock, bougainvillea and more into delicious, bite-sized pieces of music. As WOLF! has always done since its inception in 2014, tone, touch and taste always come first. Like “Ratso”, the first single from a six-track collection that launches across all streaming platforms today (listen here).
“We had WOLF! that was running hard back in 2016. There were two really great albums, a bunch of sold out shows, some songs licensed for film and TV, and then for a bunch of reasons, some that weren’t even clear Our attention as a band was drawn to other endeavors,” explains Metzger. “In 2018, we ducked into the studio and dropped some tracks, but again life took us in the other direction and the recordings were put on hold. As things started to open up after the pandemic, it quickly became clear that it was time Finishing the EP and getting the band back on track.”
Recorded at Restoration Sound in Brooklyn, NY and mixed by Chris Connors, Adult Entertainment improves upon the unique approach of WOLF! heard in its first two releases with songs like “Ratso” and “Patty Cake”, but expands on ” Hey Francis,” a sub-octave guitar rock gem underpinned by a clave rhythm, “Hawaiian Shirt” breezy exotic, Marco Benevento on Farfisa organ, and lively Gabor Szabo-meets-Bill Frisell closer to “Cottonmouth.” The EP will feature four singles in the weeks leading up to its release.
“Wolf! There’s a thing. When the three of us play together, there’s an innate chemistry,” Metzger said. “I don’t hear anyone else actually play instrumental music like this right now. It’s a guitar-centric band, but it’s not about guitar solos or fancy rehearsals. It’s about three guys in a room making music in real time, It feels good to be straight up, you know it the first time you hear it. I think we all need a little bit these days.”
After regaining its footing this summer in Brooklyn’s Industry City, WOLF! Airing four shows in the Northeast this fall, with more planned for 2023.
