WOODSTOCK, Conn. — For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, Woodstock Fair will return to normal.

In fact, this year’s 161st Labor Day Weekend Fair from September 2-5 will be even better than usual, with a bigger carnival for younger kids, bigger and better horse shows and goats exhibition.

Acting Fair President Jeffrey Gordon said the only thing missing would be chickens because of an earlier outbreak of bird flu and a desire to err on the side of caution.

Gordon said that while the show is true to its agricultural roots, it has become an event for everyone.

“We’ve expanded the Fiesta section because people seem to really like it,” Gordon said, adding that the section is separate from the Midway section, which is more suitable for teens and adults to ride.

With two entertainment stages, there’s a chance to see some of the bigger names on the main stage, including Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, Gatlin Brothers, Gin Blossoms and Dire Straits Legacy, featuring five original Dire Straits members.
