Workers evacuated after Mexico gas pipeline explodes

Natural gas pipeline operated by Mexican state oil company Pemex exploded A fire broke out in the Mexican state of Tabasco late Tuesday, prompting the evacuation of all workers at the Paredón hydrocarbon separation station.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage to property near the factory, according to local media.

The cause of the explosion is not known and an investigation is ongoing, according to Mexican civil defense authorities.

Pemex said in a statement statement The excavator accidentally hit the pipeline, causing an ethane gas leak on the 24-inch ethane pipeline from Ciudad PEMEX to Cangrejera. Pemex is addressing the gas leak and is working to restore normalcy in the Huimanguillo area, the company said.
