Special G7 summit
Following the massive wave of missile strikes in Ukraine, leaders of the G7 group convened a special summit via video conference. US president Joe Biden, who called for a special session of the group, announced new deliveries of anti-air defence systems for Ukraine, as western leaders reacted to the Russian attacks.
Thaw in V4 relations
Security in the Visegrad Group region in light of the escalation of the war in Ukraine and the ongoing energy crisis were the main subjects discussed at the meeting of the Visegrad Four presidents. Tuesday’s summit was the group’s first high-level meeting since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.
European arms race
October is shaping up to be an important month when it comes to the ongoing arms race in Europe. Countries such as Poland are looking to develop all sorts of arms agreements to boost their defensive capabilities in light of the Russian threat.
Curbing the economic crisis
TVP World’s UK correspondent, Klaudia Czerwińska, reported from London, where the Bank of England has issued a new warning and has taken steps to rein in the country’s economic crisis.
Should Poland adopt the euro?
Poland is one of several EU countries that have yet to adopt the Euro as their official currency since joining the bloc in 2004. While the terms of its accession to the EU obliged it to eventually adopt the euro, no timeframe was set for the change. TVP World’s reporter Marek Steele-Zieliński attended a conference dedicated to this question.
Digital summit in Tallinn
The second day of the Digital Summit took place in Tallinn, Estonia. The gathering aims to provide governments and financial institutions with concrete steps to ensure that the European digital future works to advance human freedom, dignity, and the rules-based international order.
Prix Europa 2022
The 2022 edition of Prix Europa is scheduled to take place this October. The nominees include Monika Andruszewska, a reporter who has previously helped to cover the war in Ukraine for TVP World.
